Making Contact : Intro to Creative Movement

From the theatre company that brought you QUEER PROM//FERTILITY RITUAL at Catland:
Making Contact
A preview of our upcoming five-week course in creative movement

Making Contact is an interactive introduction to the methodologies of Sacred Circle Theatre Company: a queer, feminist, subversive theatre company based in Brooklyn.

Drawing from a wide array of movement-based theatre techniques and a queer sensibility of bodies, this workshop will explore boundary and risk in a safe space. Participants will walk away feeling more aware of their bodies’ full potential as they move through space. This playful exploration will awaken the body to the impulses around it, and allow for a more creative and joyful way of moving!

This class is open to anyone! Novices and first-timers more than welcome!
Those who may take special interest include: performers of any type, artists of any type, queer-identifying people, yogis and exercise gurus looking for more liberated movement, people who want to feel more comfortable in their bodies, and those wishing to escape hetero-patriarchal expectations of movement.

Led by Raymond Arnold, Company Leader of Sacred Circle, and assisted by Mia Longenecker, Senior Artistic Associate.

We look forward to moving with you!

Sacred Circle Theatre Company is a queer, feminist, subversive theatre company based in Brooklyn and performing throughout the five boroughs. Its mission is to develop work that makes word into flesh, using diverse performance and movement practices to subvert theatrical tradition with physical and spiritual body in an artistic safe space. Its inaugural production of Oscar Wilde’s SALOMÉ had its two-week run earlier this summer at The Alchemical in Chelsea. Watch out for its next performance, Word Made Flesh: An Evening of Performance, this October at The Living Gallery in Bushwick.
