What is tarot? Can it tell the future? What about free will? How do I use these things? Are they magick?
If you're struggling with the answers to these questions, you're not alone.
Please join Catland and the Book Unbound in this introductory class as we define tarot related terms, explore its origin both as a game and device for divination, and identify symbols, sigils, themes and motifs that inhabit this World.
Please note that this is a continuation of last month’s class and will focus predominantly on the minor arcana. If time permits, we will workshop some readings together toward the end of the class.
All levels welcome!
Recommended Reading: 78 Degrees of Wisdom by Rachel Pollack.
About the Book Unbound:
Having studied the cards for almost ten years, Ken has had the great privilege of mentoring under esteemed tarot masters like Rachel Pollack and Riva Bond of New York's Lower East Side. He is a graduate of the University at Albany’s English program, where he received his first set of tarot cards from poet and Writing Center director, Jil Hanifan.
The Book Unbound has partnered with a number of local proprietors to help bring tarot to the stage, including Catland Books (Bushwick), the Cobra Club (Bushwick), the Way Station (Crown Heights), the Crown Inn (Crown Heights), and the Branded Saloon (Crown Heights), and we are always interested in building relationships with community leaders, activists, and business owners.
