While there are many applications for herbal medicine- brews, teas, potions and salves- the tincture reigns supreme. This is a simple procedure that has the unique ability to draw the most concentrated, active incredients from plant material, and apply them to countless concoctions, from perfumes to powerful medicines. Please join Catland Books and co-owner Melissa Madara for an in-depth look at the process of making and using homemade tinctures!
In this class, we will cover a number of topics, including -
- The basics of making a tincture
- Plant materials that are suitable for tinctures
- Some of my favorite tincturing recipes
- Applications of tinctures for basic medicine
- Dosages, concentration, and dilution
Students will also be invited to sample a few low-impact tinctures in class.
