Plant Identification & Garden Workshop

Catland Books & Co-Owner Melissa Jayne Madara are pleased to offer an exciting, hands-on tour of the Catland secret garden! Please join us for an exploration of the plants we grow here, as well as several local species, and a discussion on how to identify, propagate, and harvest them. In this practical and informal workshop, we will cover :

+ A tour of the herbs, plants, trees, and flowers of the Catland garden
+ A discussion of plant identification, and basic plant taxonomy
+ A discussion on proper foraging practices
+ A practical exploration of urban gardening practices

Please dress comfortably to be outdoors. Students are encouraged to bring paper and a pen, as well as a phone or camera to take pictures for your notes. 

$15 per student

Melissa Jayne Madara is an herbalist, a storyteller, and a witch. Her practice draws largely from the folk magic of her parents (Croatian & Pennsylvania Dutch), and incorproates her work in mythology, Jungian psychology, wilderness survival, apothecary sciences, divination, and trance work. She currently serves as the co-owner and garden manager at Catland Books, as well as the editrix of Catland's premiere publication, Venefica Magazine. Follow her on instagram at @saint.jayne
