Create psychedelic and ethereal designs via alchemy using organic waste and fragrant flowers!
Bundle dyeing is a contemporary natural dye technique of making imprints of natural color on to fabric with out the need of extraction or immersion dyeing.
This workshop is a balance of the science behind natural color and the creativity of working with organic and recycled materials, ie plants, minerals, food waste. This interactive process will stimulate all senses and has an overall healing effect for those who explore it.
Overview will cover entire process so you can continue to experiment on your own. Along with differentiating fibers, mordants, modifiers, you will also learn how to source for natural color in an urban setting. Class is open to all levels.
Attendees are invited to bring their own pieces to dye ie old clothing, pillow cases, yardage, or thrift store finds (natural fibers only). We will also offer moderately priced silk for sale at the event. Please be mindful of the size of your personal projects. Example, one silk slip or two tops or a 1/2 yard of fabric.
All other materials will be provided. Feel free to email if you have any questions regarding your materials.
