Monthly Tarot Forecast for February 2017

After the dark year of 2016 is finally over, many of us are left to sort through the emotional and spiritual damage. It's a period of high high and low lows- a strange duality between the best and worst parts of ourselves. But don't worry- this exaggerated emotionality, for better or worse, doesn't have infinite momentum. This month's focus is about planning and action, and whichever side of the madness you're on, house reader Blue June has some words of advice for you.

Using the bold and luxurious Morgan Greer deck, Blue illuminates two paths with one answer.

RELINQUISH: King of Rods, upright
While all of the planets have been direct for the past month or so we all were feeling a sense of pride in getting things accomplished. Most of us also found it more simple to delegate to others when necessary while also doing our own due diligence, which has been rewarding during this time. This has been a great confidence boost for anyone working on their activism or making plans toward reaching future goals, but now it's time to really get comfortable with the idea of success. Any left over doubt will not be an acceptable way to move forward, so it's time to let go of any fears or anxiety over accomplishing the things that lie ahead. It's also a great idea not to get too wrapped up in arrogance- there is a specific balance that must be met. So the happy medium lies opposite whichever side you've been favoring. If you've really been feeling yourself, check the ego. If you've been lacking courage, it's time for more positive affirmations.

FOCUS: Queen of Cups, reversal
Our focus for the month of February will require a great deal of honesty with ourselves and others over the things we've been feeling. Most likely we've been slightly delusional regarding our emotions in order get things done, but this month we have to shift the focus on a true awareness of self. Take yourself on a feel trip. Examine your grief, your joy, any remorse or excitement, be truly candid with yourself and communicate these things with others. There should be a strong emphasis on keeping your demeanor balanced, as the Queen of Cups often represents someone who may come unhinged. This often is the result of delusions, so again honesty is key. Putting a spotlight on your spiritual wellbeing could also be a vantage point through this time.

CHALLENGE: The Sun, reversal
Pretty self explanatory considering the timing of this season. February is always one of the most brutal months of the year and while our days are getting longer, we feel less of the suns warmth than we do the rest of the year during this month. This is a caution to anyone who suffers from seasonal depression. This is also a caution in the same regard to those that aren't often susceptible. Staying positive throughout the month is going to prove to be an obstacle. If you're feeling discouraged with work or relationships, do your best to remember what made you enthusiastic about it and focus on that. If you're simply feeling discouraged, do what you can in a healthy way to stave off the blues. On the other hand if you are feeling extreme optimism, it might be a good time to refer you back to the card in our "Relinquish" position. That's a good indication that you're fooling yourself and in the end possibly setting yourself up for disappointment.

EMBRACE: 5 of Swords, upright
Accountability is key here. It may seem as though your conflicts are over, but if you've truly done something wrong, set a clear plan to redeem yourself and win back the trust of others or yourself. Pretending that there isn't an issue is only going to perpetuate negative situations. You probably require just a little more structure in dealing with consequences. If you are ruled by arrogance, you are sure to trip all over yourself this month, as this card is a cautionary tale.. Be ready to embrace compromise instead of being a brat. You're most likely going to have a difficult time accepting that things aren't going exactly your way. If this difficulty is met with humility and awareness you're much more likely to attract the outcome you desire.
