The Invisible College: An Invisibles Reading Group

“Your head's like mine, like all our heads; big enough to contain every god and devil there ever was. Big enough to hold the weight of oceans and the turning stars. Whole universes fit in there! But what do we choose to keep in this miraculous cabinet? Little broken things, sad trinkets that we play with over and over. The world turns our key and we play the same little tune again and again and we think that tune's all we are." -Grant Morrison, The Invisibles Vol. 1

I (the entity known yesterday and tomorrow as Joe) have often called myself a Grant Morrison proselytizer, and that’s because it was reading The Invisibles that got me into magick. I had read bits and pieces of Peter Carroll’s books before and thought they were a bunch of hooey. It was Grant’s work that made it click, so well that I actually consider the experience an initiation.

That’s why (the collective meta-fiction-suit known commonly as) Fred (another huge Grant fan) and I would like to invite you to join us in a three session long reading group of The Invisibles, whether you’re already initiated into the Cult of Morrison or just tuning in to this fritzed new reality tunnel. While we will present our own perspectives on some ideas and themes, the experience will be decidedly collaborative. Please bring your thoughts and experiences, in whatever form they manifest, to share as we build a deeper understanding of this priceless hypersigil. We will also take a look at Anarchy for the Masses, the Disinfo companion book, and Our Sentence Is Up, Patrick Meaney's independent analysis.

Don't know if The Invisibles is for you?

Do you like any of the following:
quantum mechanics,
60's pop-star secret agents,
eldritch horrors,
secret societies,
The Beatles,
conspiracy theories,
magick in all its shapes and forms,
the highest peaks of high weirdness,
and the ultimate secrets to the universe?

Then there's something really special in store for you here.

We'll also point out some of the story behind The Invisibles, including Morrison's abduction experience, his mysterious illness, the mega-wank, and the ideas behind the hypersigil.

Copies of The Invisibles as well as Anarchy for the Masses will be available for purchase at Catland. If you know you would like copies in advance, contact us at and we will special order for you.
