Please join Barrie of Beezie Textiles for a night of natural dye magic. In this workshop, you will learn how to dye fabric using plants, flowers and herbs found in the Catland bookshop, how to treat fabric so that it absorbs color, and walk away with skills to continue this practice at home. Each participant will have the opportunity to dye their very own alter cloth, infusing it with the magical properties of the plants they are using.
Entry fee includes two hour workshop, altar cloth, and natural dying plants to use in class. Each student will leave with their own, finished, dyed cloth. Participants will also recieve a 15% discount on any additional herbs purchased at the time of the class.
Originally from New York City, Barrie Cohen has spent several years traveling, working on organic vegetable farms throughout the country. There she began studying different uses for plants, dabbling with herbal remedies and dying fabric with native plants. Upon returning to New York she continued exploring color: gathering flowers from local markets and foraging plants on weekend hikes. Now with her company, Beezie Textiles, Barrie spends most of her time working with natural color and sewing repurposed fabric together. Beezie Textiles combines a love for nature with a passion for a cozy home to create sustainable and natural home goods.
