Mental Health & the Tarot

The Tarot is a powerful tool that has been used for recreation, divination, and self-exploration for centuries—and there are as many ways to use a Tarot deck as there are Tarot readers. In this two-hour workshop, health educator and Tarot reader Haylin Belay will explore a social-emotional perspective on the iconography of the Major and Minor Arcana. Topics covered will include:

- Individual cards as metaphor for mental/emotional health patterns like codependency and trauma

- How anxiety- and depression-related symptoms are reflected in spreads

- Using the four elements to guide self-care and symptom management

- Tips for self-readings/reading for others during times of emotional distress

This class is suitable for beginner Tarot readers as well as experienced readers looking to deepen or enhance their current practice. Please note that while many cards will be explored in detail, this is not a "learn to read Tarot" course. Participants do not need to bring their own cards but should bring something with which to take notes.

Haylin Belay is the creator of My Feminism Involves Witchcraft, aka Femiwitch. A health educator and sexuality professional with over a decade of experience in the field, her expertise is in holistic approaches to social-emotional development and mind-body wellness. For more information, visit
